![]() Install went pretty smooth with two people and I would recommend it to anyone needing a hitch. 20 Big Horn Crew Cab, Black Forest Green, 4x4, Rambox 5'7' bed, 345ci Hemi, 8HP70, 3.92 gears (LSD rear). 20 Limited Longhorn Crew Cab, Diamond Black Crystal, 4x4, 5'7' bed, Hemi Etorque, 8HP75, 3.92 gears (LSD rear). Overall this hitch works and functions great. So I can see why a bed with ramboxes would probably not be ideal for towing a 5th wheel. Makes life a lot easier until you get the bolt ls in. Definitely recommend putting a bolt through receiver holes and using a strap to hold up center plate through hole in bed after you get it into place. With a few extra measurements you can just cut a hole in both for handle to slide through and give it a much cleaner look. In the video it showed where he cut a large u out of the inner fender to clear the pull handle and notched the bed that looked kind of sloppy. However, the heads were larger than the pass through in the frame rails so it took quite a bit of extra time and ingenuity to get those fished through there with the plates.(The carriage bolts survived shipping so they were what came with the kit). ![]() The two large carriage bolts that go in the rear cross member are a little deceiving because the video makes it seem like they slip right in. The paper directions were not totally clear on several thing so we resorted to the video which helped a lot. So I would have to give the packaging and shipping one star because I had to go spend an extra $75 on grade 8 hardware. When I received the package 1/2 the hardware was missing because the inner box it was in was all broke apart and the outer box was not sealed up. If anyone is considering adding a gooseneck or puck system to their truck, don't be intimidated by the requirement of lifting the bed, it's really easy, it's the measuring and drilling part that sucks, but you'll have to do that regardless of what system you get.Ordered this after deciding to go with it over a B&W kit due to me not using it a whole lot and the price difference. ![]() The whole job took about 5 hours with a lot of BSing, triple checking things, and a lunch break. Once the trim rings were installed you can't even tell the holes are a little off. It took some extra checking, but we were able to get all the holes within 3/8" of where they needed to be so it all worked out, and I'm happy with how everything came out. However with the bed liner it was very hard to tell where the where the ribs ended, also they only gave you measurements from their reference point to the rear most holes in the bed, the rest of the holes are measured off the first 2 holes, so if you screw up the first measurement, all the measurements will be off. The bed was light enough I was actually able to put some gloves on and lift it by hand while my buddy went under and blocked it.Īfter that bolting all the pieces in was easy, then dropped the bed back down, reinstalled the bolts and cut the holes for everything.Ĭutting the holes was the most tedious part, the directions kinda suck, they want you to use the bed ribs as your starting reference point, which may have worked fine for an uncoated bed. Remove rear 4 bed bolts, loosen the front two, push the 4 or 5 Christmas trees that secure the harness to the back of the bed out to give the harness more play, then lift the rear of the bed and block it. Install was not too bad, lifting the bed was my biggest concern, turned out that was very easy. ![]() The most cost effective way to do this so you don't end up with extra pieces is to order the 5th wheel prep kit: 82215838AB then buy the individual components for the gooseneck hitch: Just wanted to update, I pulled the trigger on the OEM Gooseneck and 5th wheel prep kit.
